Vietnam.
The Vietnam War was a conflict between the North Vietnamese, Supported by it's communist allies, and South Vietnam, supported by the U.S and other anti-communist nations. The North Vietnamese also know as the Viet Cong fought a guerilla style war, making it one of the bloodiest battles in American history. Lasting from 1964-1973 America lost over 58,000 young soldiers in the fight to contain communism. We were unsuccessful. Since the Vietnamese people have a long history of cultural preservation and resistance, most wanted to be united under an independent communist nation. We were fighting a losing battle from the beginning, with no chance of winning, which left our nation divided. Were we doing the right thing? Negotiations for peace between the North and South were unsuccessful and as soon as American troops left South Vietnam fell to the Northern communist party. What waisted efforts on our governments part.
